“Happiness, happiness, the greatest gift that I possess.
I thank the Lord that I’ve been blessed, with more than my share of happiness” is a childhood memory from Ken Dodd’s Saturday evening show.
For those of you a little over 30 (like myself), you may remember it!
Happiness is a word based on happenings…
You cooked my favourite dinner – I’m happy
I like where you took me – I’m happy
The sun is shining – I’m happy
The house is clean – I’m happy
The kids are behaving – I’m happy
My boss likes me today – I’m happy
There’s a sale on at the Mall – I’m happy
All these are based on happenings.
The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, ‘Give thanks in ALL circumstances, for this is God’s will for you…”
This verse teaches us that no matter what is going on around me, if the happenings are good, bad, or indifferent, I need to be happy anyway.
My recent trip to South Africa has reminded me in a big way of how very happy I should be EVERY day.
No matter how life is treating you right now, have a great attitude and a thankful heart.
It’s not what’s going on around me that should determine my happiness, but what’s going on inside of me.
When you have a relationship with God, you can know His joy in your life. It doesn’t depend on happenings, it depends on Him, and He never changes.
Maybe you need to change your mindset today and count your blessings.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
