You can get so close to your worries that you no longer see the effect that they are having on you.
How many of us today are being pulled down and pulled back, without even knowing it?
Not all worries are the same, there are different types.
Here are a few…
Floating Worry – It just drifts aimlessly through your mind. You know it’s there as it keeps popping up each day, but there’s no way of solving it, as these types of worry don’t actually tell you what you’re worried about. Floating worries are really automatic negative thoughts that want to use up valuable space in your mind. Just let them go – They don’t belong.
Fake Worry – Is really like the mouse and the elephant crossing a bridge. The mouse said to the elephant, ‘we sure did make that bridge shake.’ Fake worry is the mouse behaving like it’s the elephant. It thinks it has the power to shake you – It doesn’t.
Guilt Worry – Many people have high-guilt proneness because of their past life. The mind continually replays the bad things of the past and as a result, you continually keep talking yourself out of a forgiven life.
…I feel bad about myself.
…I feel like I’m letting people down.
…I’m not good enough.
Then we feel guilt for feeling guilty.
It’s a vicious circle.
Settle it once and for all; I’m either forgiven or I’m not.
Jesus either died for my sins or He didn’t.
He settled it 2000 years ago… You have to settle now.
Perfectionism Worry – Anne Wilson Schaef said that perfectionism is ‘self abuse of the highest order.’
A perfectionist is never happy with results. They are never happy about where they are.
To them, non-perfectionism is mediocrity; yet you can do things with excellence without being a perfectionist.
Stop worrying that you haven’t got everything perfectly lined up, but at the same time, don’t settle for second rate nor second best.
Understand that in an imperfect world, there will always be a problem to keep you just short of perfectionism.
Remember… when we do our best, God will do the rest.
Take to heart today this great Bible verse…
Matthew 5:48 ‘Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.’
The word ‘perfect’ means complete.
Be complete IN God.
Throw yourself into His arms and let Him take your worries, cares and concerns. Feel His complete love for you.
1 Peter 5:7 ‘Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.’
