To me, life is simple… it’s about God and it’s about people.
Jesus himself said these words in Mark 12:30-31;
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’…‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
For almost 30 years now, I’ve devoted my life to serving others, so that they too could have a meaningful life that carries at its very centre, the importance of loving God.
Often, people find it hard to love others, simply because they find it hard to love themselves.
Loving yourself comes from knowing that you are loved.
I’ve listed below some of the things that I’ve held in my heart when trying to encourage people to see their true worth. I hope they help you to help others today too…
5 minutes of proactive care is worth 5 hours of reactive care.
One surprise gesture is worth ten planned ones.
Telling someone that you appreciate them takes really no effort at all.
Time spent encouraging people is never time lost, but ground gained.
A shoulder to cry on is far more absorbent than the words ‘you’ll get over it’.
I, me, and mine, are 3 words that may make you feel important, but there are only 3 letters that make everyone feel important… OUR.
‘Let’s get together sometime’ are just empty words that never happen. ‘Let’s make a date now’ is what relationships are made of.
A full vase means more than empty words.
‘Better is open rebuke than hidden love’ (Proverbs 27:5-6)
A timely, 5 minute phone call is far better than 5 hours of counselling when it’s too late.
A cup of coffee with a troubled person is worth to them its weight in Gold.
Today, instead of just thinking about what more you can get out of life, start to lift others that have no life at all.
Proverbs 12:25 ‘Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.’
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
