Fresh Hope – Day 132

Words matter and should be treated with a great deal of respect. There is a reason why novelist and playwright Edward Bulwer-Lytton in 1839, said ‘the pen is mightier than the sword’ and why The Bible says words, spoken words hold the power of life or death, blessings or curses, encouragement or persecution.

Proverbs 18:21 ‘The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.’

It’s quite incredible to think we have such a powerful tool that most of us take for granted.

So let me ask you a question: what kind of words have you already spoken and what will your ears pick up on?

I believe our lives and the lives of others around us would be far greater, more fulfilled and successful if we took care over the words we not only speak, but those we write, text, post, tweet and in some cases illegally inscribe on walls.

Usually found written in red ink, Jesus spoke some incredible words. They contain brilliantly wise yet simple and straight ‘on the nose’ messages.

Have you ever thought of taking time to live under positive, inspirational and challenging words?

Maybe take some time today to read just the red letters.
