Waiting…it is a struggle for most people today.
The 21st Century society is such a ‘now’ culture – everything in an instant, access to anything at the touch of a button…therefore waiting has become almost extinct, or just seen as down-right wrong.
I’m sure you’ve said the same as me…things like ‘how long is this queue?! I’m not standing in this.’
‘Why should I have to wait? I’m paying for this!’
Whilst I don’t like queuing or waiting a long time, I feel that we should be careful that we don’t become totally ‘instant’.
When it comes to food, mainly the best items or dishes take the longest time.
Have you ever seen items like a 28 day cured steak, or had some slow roasted pulled pork? Or maybe you’ve seen the drink Port, with ’10, 15 or 20 year aged’, printed on the bottle.
It’s incredible to think some food and drink will sit for days, weeks or years just waiting…waiting for the day they fulfil their purpose…to be consumed.
Let me encourage you today to ask God to you give you patience, so you too can see some very special moments in your life.
Let’s live life with depth and meaning, not just filled with instant fixes.
Isaiah 40:31 ‘But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.’
Remember whilst you’re waiting, you are growing, you are becoming a better, more tastier and beautiful version of yourself.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
