I had another birthday this week. I’m a little older than I was 10 years ago and there’s still some things I can’t do.
I can’t roller skate, ice skate, or dive. That’s okay though, because I’m not bothered about doing either of those, even though I’ve tried (a little), neither of them will actually enhance my life.
I’ve never parachuted, abseiled or climbed a mountain either. I’m not sure if I’d be successful, as I’ve never tried to be.
There are some things you have to learn how to do, and there’s some things that you can get by without.
I had to learn to cook, clean and iron when I first got married. I had to learn how to be a Mom, I had to learn how to do laundry, I had to learn how to read and write as a child. Some things you need to learn to do, because you’ll need those things in EVERYDAY life.
There are some things we are still learning every day, life should be about learning. You are never too old to learn something new.
‘If you don’t learn something, you won’t know it’, is a simple phrase with a weighty meaning.
God’s word, is there for us to read and learn. We need it in our everyday lives. We need to know what His promises are, because you’ll need them every day.
I’ll never learn to ice skate if I don’t try and you’ll never know God’s word if you don’t read it.
When you read a short passage each day, ask God to speak to you through it. Memorise a verse or a truth from what you’ve read.
What you practise in the light, you will recall in the dark. Knowing God’s word will enhance your everyday life. It will make you rich.
Read and learn today and you’ll know it for tomorrow.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
