The Bible frequently talks about the’ fight of faith.’
1 Timothy 6:12 ‘Fight the good fight of the faith…’
2 Timothy 4:7 ‘I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith…’
At first glance, it almost sounds contradictory, in that faith suggests that we just trust God, and yet fighting suggests that we have to get involved.
The best way of understanding this is to see that often we will be called upon to fight with our faith. In other words, we don’t just sit back and pray a little prayer and hope for the best, no, we battle in prayer with great faith believing that God will come through for us.
When you have no resources or opportunities, no solutions of your own, nowhere else to turn, it’s then that you’re in a battle and you are forced to trust in God’s ability to provide and meet you in your time of great need.
If nothing went wrong in life, then we wouldn’t need to trust in God.
We all live in a world contaminated by human sin and depravity – a world of temptation and disappointment.
Sometimes it’s easy to have faith when everything is going great, but courageous faith is forged only when it is tested.
Today, don’t just sit back with a mindset that says ‘whatever will be will be’. NO – fight the fight of faith and battle over the things that matter most to you.
Battling with sickness, family problems, finance, employment, trials?
