The start of the new year always brings with it a flurry of activity, usually in the department of major lifestyle changes. No doubt, on day six, you already have a sneaky feeling that you won’t be sticking to the new plan.
One of the most important things that will be, and of course should be high on our agendas, is the question of: what I should do with my life?
Do I look for a new job?
Do we try for another baby?
Do we move house, change the car or buy a new kitchen?
Can I make something more of my life by serving in the community?
Can I survive with watching less TV and restricting the use of my electronic devices?
The 2016 checklist is pretty substantial when we pool all of our thoughts, dreams and desires together, but in reality, after all is said and done, more will be said than is done.
The whole thing really all boils down to one thing…what is God’s will for my life?
Of course, there is no one person that could ever answer that for everyone, as what God wants for the direction of your life is different from what He wants for mine.
But what I love about the Bible is its simplicity in informing every follower of Christ that the will of God for the discipline of your life, is the same for everyone and goes like this…
Be joyful always.
Give thanks in all circumstances;
This is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
When you think about it, it’s just three pretty straightforward instructions…be happy, prayerful and thankful.
I look forward to being a better person living in a better world because we all took these three simple things to heart.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
