If you’re going to go forward in life, you must quit looking backwards.
Some people are always dwelling on their disappointments.
Some people have lived so long in self-pity that it has become part of their identity.
We’ve all had negative things happen to us; you may have gone through things that no one deserves to experience in life.
Maybe your dreams look more like a nightmare as they look so far away from ever working out.
I don’t mean to minimise what anyone has gone through, but if you want to live in victory, you can’t let your past poison your future.
Feeling sorry for yourself will only push people away from you long term, so it’s time to let go of your victim mentality as nobody, not even God, ever promised that life would be fair.
Make a fresh start today by forgiving those people that did you wrong, but equally so, forgive yourself for the mistakes that you have made.
If you’re not willing to let go of the old, don’t expect God to do the new. You’ll never be truly happy as long as you harbour bitterness in your heart.
If you’ve had some unfair things happen to you, make a decision that you’re going to stop replaying those things in your memory. To constantly focus on all the negatives and the mistakes that you have made, only perpetuates the problem.
Let the promise of God to you sink deep within your soul today – why not repeat it over and over again until it becomes part of you:
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Today can become a new beginning.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
