The words that you and I speak are not just communicative but creative.
Communication is our way of relaying information that has happened, or a way of announcing something that is about to happen. Both ways are factual in nature; for instance, there is no doubt in your mind that the meeting you have announced for tomorrow morning will take place. It’s called planning.
However, God has not just restricted our words to announcing the inevitable, but also to proclaiming the impossible.
Some of the very first words that the Bible records are of God speaking things into being followed by the words…’and it was so.’
Now I understand that you may think that it is only God that could do such a thing, but I want you to see something for yourself here today; speaking things into being is also now given to us as we determine by our words of faith what should be and what shouldn’t be.
2 Corinthians 4:13 It is written: ‘I believed; therefore I have spoken.’ Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak.’
Speaking with a spirit a faith is something that every believer in Jesus can and should do.
Self proclaiming prophecies are spoken out by the bucket load every day, without even a thought that we are speaking powerful words of doubt over our lives.
Do any of these sound familiar? “…that’s totally impossible…it will never happen…I can’t possibly do that…there’s no way I’ll be able to get over this.”
So powerful are these ‘proclamations of doubt’ that they become reality, to which we then throw in a disclaimer that says…”I told you so!”
If only we would harness the power of our words by adding faith to them, we would see an incredible difference as we declare affirming words over lives, our families, and those we have opportunity to speak to and pray for.
When was the last time you spoke creative words of faith over a situation and saw it come to pass?
Don’t know where to start?
Start by declaring the promises of God as declared in the Bible; here’s one that I have written down and declared over my children and grandchildren for many years now;
Psalm 112:1-3 Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands. Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures for ever.
Start today to use your faith filled words to create the very future that you believe that God wants for you.
Go for it!
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
