When you consider what might be the greatest compliment you could ever wish to receive, typically your mind will wonder to compliments regarding what you do. For instance, ‘you’re an amazing employee’, or ‘you’re so talented’. Possibly, you think about compliments aimed at who you are. ‘You’re such a great friend’, or ‘you’re so generous’.
Now, they are certainly great compliments to receive and are things that you should want to be said about you. However, can I suggest that they are not the greatest compliments you could ever receive. For the greatest compliment that you could wish to receive is not connected to what you do, or even who you are, but it’s connected to who you’re with.
There’s a verse found in the Bible in Acts 4:13 and it says, “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realised that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”
Right here, Peter and John (2 of Jesus’ disciples) received what is, in my opinion, the greatest compliment that you could wish to receive: for people to acknowledge that they had been with Jesus.
I want you to notice how the people around them recognised that it wasn’t their education that stood out, nor were they extraordinary people, but something about them spoke volumes to those in their proximity, and that was that they had been in the presence of God Himself.
If there’s anything that you want to be said of you in this life, let it be this…that you had been with Jesus.
Nothing else will have a greater impact on the world around you and nothing else will produce greater change within you than when you get around Him…
It won’t go unnoticed.
