I want you to think about a dream that you have your life. Your dreams matter to God – not just because He wants to give you the desires of your heart but also because of the people that He wants to reach through your dream. They’re in your heart for a reason.
What do we do, when the big dream in our hearts doesn’t match our current circumstances? You may look at your life and feel very ordinary.
In the Bible, before David became a king, he did what was a considered a lowly job, watching over the sheep and fighting off bears and lions, here and there. Even his family refused to put him forward, when a great opportunity (to battle Goliath) came up. Yet, his ‘lowly’ job had secretly been preparing him for a moment of greatness. Do not be discouraged if what you are doing now has no great title or accolades attached to it. You are likely in a season of preparation.
In Zechariah 4:10 it says, ‘Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.’
Small beginnings sometimes come with difficult people, times where you may doubt that you discerned the right calling over your life at all and also disappointment. Don’t give up. God is always working on your behalf, behind the scenes.
Ask God for clarity for right where you are and He will lead your way, step by step. Trust Him, even when life makes no sense. Be encouraged at the start of this new month, that God is piecing things together for you.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
