“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
Maybe you’ve woken up today with a plan. You know exactly what you’re going to do, how you’re going to do it and when you’re going to do it. Or, you’ve woken up today with no plan and nothing to do; you’re just going to see where the day takes you.
We can often get so wound up in ‘the plan’; in knowing what the next day, week or year holds. We want a plan for every area of our life and if we don’t know, or it doesn’t happen, that stresses or worries us. As humans, we get so consumed by knowing. I read Jeremiah 29:11 and asked God to give me a new perspective – what more can I learn from one of the most famous verses?
I was so drawn to the word KNOW – ‘For I KNOW the plans that I have for you’. It’s already common knowledge that God has a plan for us, but we never focus on how or when that plan was made.
God’s plan for your life isn’t something He creates day-by-day as you live your life. He doesn’t struggle to set out a path for you at the beginning of each new day. God KNOWS. He’s got it all sorted. Before you existed, before you were a thought in your parents’ minds – God knew the plan He had for you.
Today, don’t get caught up in ‘the plan’; don’t stress about not knowing – rest in the knowledge that God knows. And more than that He knows BEST – ‘plans to PROSPER you, and not to harm you. Plans to give you a HOPE and a FUTURE.’
