There are three kinds of peace found in the Bible.
Each one relates to a different part of your life, yet Jesus willingly gives you all three, all at once, and without measure. In fact, as we saw yesterday, Jesus was crucified, and was raised back to life, in order to bring you the very best and most lasting peace that’s ever been on offer.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
The first kind of peace is the peace He LEAVES with you.
In other words, it stays. It doesn’t leave. It’s always there, even beneath the surface on your worst day.
We could call this peace..PEACE WITH GOD.
By asking Jesus for His forgiveness, He, in return gives you instant peace WITH God. That peace remains with you for the rest of your life as you follow Jesus.
Make your peace WITH God today.
The second kind of peace, is the peace He GIVES to you.
We could call this peace…the PEACE OF GOD.
This peace is the peace He sends to your life when you are on the right track. When you obey Him, you will sense this peace. When you do the right thing, you will sense this peace. If you’re going in the right direction for your life, you will sense this kind of peace. It’s the peace OF God.
You’ll soon know when it’s taken from you also. If you wander from the right path, disobey Him or do the wrong thing for your life, you will notice that this peace leaves you. It’s a kind of gauge to help you know when you are in God’s will. This peace will return as soon as you say sorry and get back on track.
Do you have the peace OF God today? If not, ask yourself why.
The third kind of peace, is PEACE WITH YOURSELF.
The Bible passage above says that Jesus gives peace…’not as the world gives.’
The world gives people temporary emotional lifts that make us feel great for a night, so long as we’ve had quite a bit to drink and that people all want to be your friend. The problem is that that kind of peace in yourself is short lived and always has to rely on outside circumstances to prop you up.
Knowing peace WITH YOURSELF means that no matter what day it is, and no matter what you have to face, Jesus gives you an overwhelming sense of well being from WITHIN.
His death on the cross was the payment that he had to make on your behalf, in order to smash the effects of sin and to make a way for all those that believe on His name to be set free.
Have you found peace with yourself? There’s only one way…be at peace with Him.
NO GOD – NO PEACE
KNOW GOD – KNOW PEACE.
