We live in a world more and more environmentally aware, which is great; we hear a lot about the damage to the rainforest and Great Barrier reef, and endangered species like the Siberian tigers and pandas etc…
The problem is, it’s less and less God aware – the actual creator of the rainforest and the panda! And so what follows is as one of 7 billion humans on the planet we can feel expendable and we get the message that a panda’s life is worth more than ours.
This by the way isn’t true. The difference between us and all creation is that God breathed his spirit and likeness into us, meaning we’re of infinite worth to Him.
Isaiah 51:6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath; the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation will last forever,my righteousness will never fail.
This verse helps us in a world where we can feel second place to a Panda that actually there is an eternal plan for us that is way beyond that of any created rainforest or barrier reef. There is a significance to you that stretches beyond the limited universe – you are worth more than many Siberian tigers!
This should then help us to also see the infinite worth of people we come into contact with every day and the fantastic mission field God has placed us in.
When you struggle for meaning in a world that can only operate within the obvious visible realities, take courage in God’s infinite purpose and plan that will outlast everything you can see.
2 Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
