Hebrews 10:35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
There are two kinds of people that you will meet in life: confidence-makers, and confidence-shakers.
Which are you?
The story is told of a man who sold hot dogs on the road side. He was hard of hearing, so we had no radio. He had poor eyesight so he didn’t read the newspaper. But his hotdogs were great. He Put up signs on the side of the road advertising them everyday and people came from everywhere. Eventually he branched out, became prosperous and was able to send his son to College.
Unfortunately, his son came back with just enough education to make him dangerous. One day he said, “Dad, haven’t you heard the radio or read the newspaper? There’s is a big recession. The stock market is down, unemployment is up, things in Europe are terrible and it’s getting worse every day.”
Whereupon the man thought, “well, my son’s been to college. He reads the papers and listens to the radio-he ought to know. “So he cut down his meat and bread roll orders, took down the signs and no longer bothered to stand out on the roadside. Overnight his sales fell and within a month he was out of business. “You’re right,” he told his son, “we certainly are in the middle of a big recession. ”
Be careful! The words of confidence-shakers can become self-fulfilling prophecies if you buy into them.
So how do you overcome them?
Firstly, read the Bible and let it strengthen your faith and resolve for the things that God has asked you to do with your life, And second, remember that there will always be confidence – shakers, so make sure you surround yourself with confidence-makers.
Whether you believe you can or you can’t – you’re right!
Numbers 13:30 Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, ‘We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.’
