God wants to teach us how to be powerful and not powerless. We are designed to reign in life. In fact, we should be the most powerful people in the world because we have the power that raised Jesus and conquered death living in us!
The opposite of living like a powerful person is living like a victim. A victim mentality is feeling small, with the sense that everything in life has control over you.
David facing Goliath is an incredible picture of living with the internal conviction that you are powerful person and not a victim. David stood before his giant, with the mindset that it was smaller than him.
We cannot be powerful in our external world, until we have order in our internal world.
Some indicators that you are living in a powerless way of thinking are:
• Things easily take away your hope, peace, love and joy.
• You can’t say ‘no’ or set boundaries.
• You feel like life is driving you, rather than you driving life.
• You have a lot of anger. (Anger is counterfeit power).
• You feel stuck and hopeless.
Practically speaking, when you visualise things, your brain cannot tell the difference between a memory and a visualisation. When you picture things in your mind, you are actually setting truth into your heart. If you spend a lot of time visualising how big your problem is, your mind doesn’t recognise that it’s not reality and the problem actually gains power in your life.
Take your power back from the things that you have given it to. God has made us more than conquerors! He has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of POWER, love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
In the story of C.W Lewis` ‘Narnia’, everything was dead in the kingdom until the rightful kings and queens came to their throne. Likewise, come to the throne of your life, and take your place as a powerful person made to reign with the authority of heaven backing you!
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
