Too many times we let the fear of the unknown hold us back. When you are in God’s will there is going to be a ‘not knowing’ factor. You’re not going to know all the details about how it’s going to work out, you just have to be bold enough to step into the unknown.
There was a young Jewish girl in the Bible named Esther. She was an orphan, didn’t come from an influential family and was living in a foreign country. But God raised her up to become the Queen and was living in the palace. At the same time, there was a powerful official that ordered all Jewish people to be killed.
Esther knew that she had to do something about it. She also knew in those days that if you just went in to speak with the king you too could be killed. After careful thought, she just knew that she should go in and address the dreadful situation and see if she could make a difference and get the plan reversed. Her uncle was named Mordecai and he also encouraged her that maybe she was in her royal position for ‘such a time as this’.
This was her chance to make a mark. It was now or never, so she rose up and said ‘if i perish, I perish’. She stepped up and not only did God give her favour with the King, she saved her people and became one of the heroes of faith.
Like Esther, we all will get moments where we feel scared to step out, but we must never shrink back. Don’t let fear talk you out of it. There are people’s lives at stake.
You too were born for such a time as this.
Be bold, be courageous and step into the unknown and God will give you favour and a new level of influence.
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
