Having faith doesn’t exempt us from difficulties.
Jesus told a parable about two people. Both of them built houses, but one built his house on the sand whilst the other built his house on the rock.
The very same storm came and hit both houses in just the same way. The wind blew and the rain fell on both. The house on the rock wasn’t exempt from the storm, but it stood firm whereas the one built on the sand was knocked flat.
The difference is that when you surrender your life to God, it’s like building your life on a firm and indestructible foundation. Building on sand is like living a life without God – there is no firm foundation.
The storm is not the problem …the foundation, or lack of it is.
The storms of life may hit you time and time again, hoping to take you down, but you’ll come through the storm stronger than you were before if you will trust in God.
When your life is built on the rock, God will give you the power to endure whatever comes your way with a good attitude. Even when the wrong thing is happening to you, you’ll have the strength and courage to do the right thing. Every time you do the right thing, God will bless you
If you’re being treated unfairly at work, or you’re in a difficult marriage, don’t resort to being negative and being a complainer, instead rise above the storm and be positive. Your house is built on the rock.
Don’t expect a storm free life…it’s not going to happen. Instead, build your life on a solid foundation.
Psalm 46:1-7 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
