For months now, anyone attempting to use junction 2 of the M5 will have encountered the 30mph restriction and long tail backs with seemingly no end in sight. As you crawl past the workmen, no doubt you will have asked yourself the all important question which is “what on earth are they doing and how much longer is it going to take?” You can be forgiven for daring to think that there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot happening.
The truth is that engineers by the dozen are having to correct a 40 year old problem which is known in technical terms as the Thaumasite sulfate attack . The TSA, as it’s known for short, transforms concrete in certain conditions into a non-cohesive mass without any binding or load bearing capabilities.
It had become apparent that the Motorway had been crumbling for years but no one knew why, that is until the experts found out that TSA was responsible. When first built, the M5 along with its bridges, had been built from a concrete mix that contained limestone from the coast and had not been properly washed of the salt that had come from the sea air. Forty years later, the whole thing has fallen apart simply because of using inferior materials that construction engineers were oblivious to at the time.
The question today is: what is secretly eroding your life away that will cause it one day to crumble?
Like so many, our lives can appear to be fine until one day we realise that things are beginning to fall apart and we have no clue as to why. The answer lies in the materials that you have built your life on; If they are not the right ones then over time, whether you like it or not, your life will begin to take a tumble.
Jesus said it like this…
Matthew 7:24-27 ‘Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.’
Living according to your own principles and values may seem like the right thing to do at the time, but those ingredients may well be far short of the required ‘mix’ for a blessed life lived on a firm foundation.
Even if you’ve never done it before, open up the BIble today and ask God to speak to you from it. Each part gives you incredible supernatural wisdom to live your life by so that even when the worst storm hits you, you will not even falter.
I encourage you, build your life on the tried and trusted ingredients of the word of God today and watch your life get transformed before your very eyes.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
