Fresh Hope – 8th September 2018

We all have mountains in our lives that need moving.

Problems, situations, difficulties, impossibilities.

Sometimes we feel they are ‘so mountain like’ that they won’t shift.
When Caleb was aged 40, Moses asked him to go into the promised land and spy, so that they could get ready to take it. They encountered a really large mountain region that was going to be tough to conquer. It was the home of some really bad people, the enemy.
45 years later, they still hadn’t taken it and aged 85, Caleb said again “Lord, give me this mountain!” And He did.
It was a story of victory AND a story of 45 years of regret.

Joshua 14 vs 7-12 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to explore the land. And I brought him back a report according to my convictions, but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt in fear. I, however, followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly. 9 So on that day Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.’

10 “Now then, just as the Lord promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old! 11 I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then. 12 Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day.”

Notice that in verse 9 he was promised the land and so for all that time, he still held onto that promise.

Today, we as a church open a £1 million children’s facility for future generations.

Has it been a mountain journey? Yes.

Have there been hard times? Oh yes.

But when God tells you to take something, get up and do it.

Don’t live all your years in regret.

And if like Caleb, it’s taken you a long time to get there, don’t worry, you can still do it!!

Declare it today “Lord, give me that mountain.”

I would like to personally invite you to join us at our grand opening this morning from 10 AM till 1 PM at Champions Church or tomorrow at one of our two services 9:30 AM/11:30 AM.
