Isn’t it amazing what can happen, when tools are in the right hands? In my hands, pen and paper can become a great piece of writing. In the hands of my best friend, those same two things will turn into a beautiful illustration.
The outcome of anything wonderful depends on whose hands you place things into. What do you do with your problems? Do you hand them to your family? Do you offload them onto your friends? Venting can be nice temporarily but what real power do those people hold?
1 Peter 5:7 says ‘Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.’
To cast something is to ‘throw (something) forcefully in a specified direction.’ Now, if you were to throw something forcefully in my direction, I’d probably drop it because I’m not great at catching. But God never misses.
It doesn’t matter what you throw in God’s direction in prayer, He will pick it up and better than that, He will turn your problem into a reason to praise. Why? Because God is the only one who truly holds the power to do something incredible, in the midst of adversity. He can make a way where there doesn’t seem to be one. In fact, He has already gone before you.
You may be holding on to your problems tightly today, too afraid to let go because you’re living in fear. Let Philippians 4:6-7 encourage you today: ‘do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.’
Until you let go of your need and hand it to God, your hands will be too full to experience the peace and promise that God has waiting for you.
