A few days ago, I was walking from the train station to my client’s offices, where I’m currently working.
Seeing that there were quite a few people up ahead, I broke away from the crowd and decided to walk a slightly longer but quieter route.
As I was strolling along, I looked at the buildings and names of various companies who were situated in them. One in particular stood out to me. When I got to the office, I looked them up. After a browse on their website, I decided to introduce myself. Long story short, I was in a meeting with them, a few days later, discussing ways that we could work together.
Now, why do I tell you this? Well there are a couple of reasons. First of all, when we’re rushing along with the crowd, that’s all there is time to do…rush. Breaking away from the dozens of people I was walking along with that morning gave me time to slow down and pay attention to what was around me.
It you find yourself doing a lot of rushing to get to your destination or to tick off the next item on your to-do list, may I encourage you today to slow down for a moment and ask God what He might want to show you? Maybe it’s about your next career move. Maybe the Holy Spirit will drop some words of encouragement in your heart to share with someone who needs them. But how will you ever know, amongst the noise of the crowd?
Take time to slow down and be alone with Him today and see what happens.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
