From time to time, we all face giants.
Giants of health issues, money problems, relationship troubles, family woes and things that seem so big to us that we don’t know how they’ll ever change.
Those giants can and will taunt us with “I’m big and I’m going to ruin your life.”
“I’m huge and you’ll never overcome me.”
“I’m going to be here now for a long time and you can’t do anything about it.”
Actually, you can.
David was just a young guy who was taking lunch to his brothers. They were part of the Israelite army who were faced with the enemy. Goliath was a GIANT who would taunt them daily and will them to fight him if they dared.
David saw and David heard him (1 Samuel 17 v 23)… and then he decided to do something about it. He took what he knew (his small sling shot and some smooth stones) and instead of running away, he took down that mighty giant.
When something GIANT comes your way, you may feel inclined to run, not deal with it and hide. Fearing that there’s nothing you can do about it. YOU CAN.
Take what you know…which is the power of prayer and take that mighty giant down.
You may see and be experiencing an injustice like David did. It doesn’t matter how weak and feeble you may feel, take your courage from God Himself and attack it, not retreat.
If you don’t do what David did, you won’t experience what David experienced. You’ll never have your ‘David and Goliath moment’.
Today I encourage you, whatever you face, don’t retreat in defeat, don’t think this is the beginning of the end. Take the word of God and the sword of the spirit and take that giant down.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
