Here’s a true saying: the more thankful you are, the more you’ll receive. The more you appreciate, the more will be entrusted to you.
We all want more, but are we willing to be grateful for what we have? Are we happy to count our blessings ahead of what we don’t have? If so, you are a candidate to be blessed.
Blessed people are grateful people, they are also generous people.
God blesses the generous. (see Proverbs 22v 9).
In John chapter 12, we read the story of someone being very extravagant. Unfortunately, Judas didn’t like it, because he was keeper of the money bag and he was stingy. Yet Mary spent a whole year’s wages on Jesus, as she was extremely and eternally grateful.
Judas was critical of her generosity.
Here’s a few things about stingy people… (hopefully you won’t recognise yourself):
1. If you’re stingy, you’ll analyse the cost of everything
2. If you’re stingy, you’ll object to spending
3. Stinginess justifies selfishness
4. If you’re stingy, you’ll rarely be free to do random acts of kindness
5. Stingy people often criticise the generous
God wants us to be generous with what we have.
He wants us to do random acts of kindness out of love.
Not everyone is naturally generous, some of us have to work at it. It doesn’t come naturally to everyone. But practise make perfect. Because generosity brings blessing and at the start of a brand new year, I want to live a life of blessing.
I may not know everything, but I do know this, “it’s more blessed to give, than to receive.” (see Acts 20v 35).
Don’t ever give out of guilt, give out of love and gratitude…
Just do it and be thankful.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
