Here’s a great encouragement for the new year…you probably will have to encounter a storm!
“Thanks very much you may say.” Sorry, that’s life.
The great thing about being a Christian, is that God will be with you.
Read the following verses…
Luke 8:22-25. MSG
One day he and his disciples got in a boat. “Let’s cross the lake,” he said. And off they went. It was smooth sailing, and he fell asleep. A terrific storm came up suddenly on the lake. Water poured in, and they were about to capsize. They woke Jesus: “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” Getting to his feet, he told the wind, “Silence!” and the waves, “Quiet down!” They did it. The lake became smooth as glass.
Then he said to his disciples, “Why can’t you trust me?” They were in absolute awe, staggered and stammering, “Who is this, anyway? He calls out to the winds and sea, and they do what he tells them!”
Here’s 3 things about this passage:
- Jesus told them to get into the boat and to cross the lake. Which tells me that often God can direct us straight into a storm, it’s in HIS plan. The Bible says He is the author of my life, He planned it out and sometimes He will take us that way. The presence of problems doesn’t mean the absence of God.
- When we go into a storm, we tend to think Jesus is testing us…no, he is trusting you. If He is leading you into a situation, then He is trusting you with it, start to see it differently and say “ok Lord, what do you want to teach me here?” He’s trusting your words…what will you say? Your actions…how will you act? Your heart…what is it like? Your serving…don’t stop in a storm. He is trusting you.
3. Don’t forget that Jesus is with you. The disciples panicked and asked “what will become of US?” They forgot that Jesus was with them. Sometimes we can be so consumed with worry and fear that we forget who is with us. Don’t turn away from Jesus in a storm, remember He is with you.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
