Fresh Hope – 16th February 2019

In the book of Acts chapter 3 vs 1-10 we read the story of a crippled beggar who sat outside the temple each day begging for money.

When Peter and John saw him, they said “we don’t have money, but what we do have we will give you, in the name of Jesus Christ, get up and walk”, and he did!

Wow! What a miracle…and the guy wasn’t actually asking for one…he was just hoping for a little money to help him in his disabled state.

Why is it that we don’t ask God for what we really desire or need?
Maybe we think…
a) I’m not good enough (there’s others more deserving than me)
b) I’m not in need enough (there’s others more in need than me)
Or maybe…
C) I’m not desperate enough. (Do we really want to see a change?)

God wants you to overcome that thinking right now
-You don’t have to be good enough, you never will be.  God loves us and He wants the best for us
-Your need is your need. It’s your miracle. And whether it’s £10 you need or healing from a disease, your need is important to Jesus, because it’s important to you.
– You need to pray and not give up. Sometimes we have to be desperate and persistent and when we are, God answers. The teaching of Jesus is that we should ask and believe and then we will receive.   (Mark 11 v 24).

I love Peter and John here…they didn’t give the man what he thought he needed or what he was willing to settle for, but they gave him what he really needed and that was his miracle of healing.

Be specific.  Be persistent.  Be thankful.
