Life can be tough but be encouraged by these words from the film ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel!’
“Everything will be all right in the end and if it’s not all right, then it’s not yet the end.”
The reality is, no matter what we’re facing, there is light at the end of the tunnel! If you have faith in Jesus Christ, rest assured He has overcome the world and He won’t disappoint! What really matters though is, what direction are you headed in? Are you facing toward the light and moving out of the tunnel or are you facing the dark of the tunnel, and things are getting darker?
Often I believe it’s not about where we are, orwhat we have, but it’s our direction that has a huge bearing on our lives, and how we feel about our circumstances. Two people could have very similar circumstances, but one is happy as they have hope and is moving closer to God, where as the other is struggling as things feel they’re getting darker and more hopeless.
Take for example the spring and autumn equinox. Two points in the year when day and night are the same length.
In the Spring equinox it feels light, the birds are singing, summer is on the way and you feel great. The autumn equinox feels dark, the nights are drawing in and you want to sit in front of a fire and drink hot chocolate. But what’s amazing is the amount of light is exactly the same at both points (they have the same amount of light at the end of the tunnel) – it’s just that one is heading in the direction of summer (the light) and one towards winter (deeper into the tunnel) and it completely changes how you feel about the season you’re in!
This is great news because it means whatever is going on in your tunnel today, wherever you find yourself, you don’t need a genie to magic up a long awaited answer, but by keeping your eyes fixed on the light, and shuffling little by little forward, you’ll soon start to see things a little clearer. Don’t panic; will be alright in the end, just make sure you’re heading toward the light and not away from it.
John 8:12 | NIV
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
