“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths”
A beautiful couple of verses from Proverbs chapter 3.
What we quote and what we read, doesn’t mean we actually believe.
What happens when a door of opportunity closes that we thought would open? What happens when something doesn’t quite work out the way we’d hoped? A job that we applied for, a home that we wanted to move to? Our immediate reaction is to get upset or annoyed or fearful or disappointed…but why?
If we trust Jesus, if we know Him to be our Father, if we believe that He has the best for us, then every “NO” that we get, should really be a “THANK YOU”… because God obviously has something much better for me.
One of my favourite verses: “many are the plans in a mans heart, but it’s the Lords purpose that prevails”
(Proverbs 19 v 21)
reminds me that I may think my plans are the best plans, but HIS WAY and HIS PLAN is far better.
So the next time a door closes, don’t be tempted to be upset, instead be thankful.
Something or someone far better, is on its way.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
