Did you know that there is one question that God will never ask you — He will never ask you the question…’can you?’
But there is one question that God will always ask you, and that is…’will you?’
There’s a world of difference between the two, as one is connected to your ability whilst the other is connected to your availability.
The reason He will never ask ‘can you’, is because he knows what you can and cannot do, so the only thing left to ask is…’will you’.
Think about it for a moment…why would God ask you to do what He knows you cannot do?
If he commands me to do it, then it must be within my power to do so.
Here’s a great story that Jesus told to highlight this very issue…
Matthew 21:28-31 (NIV)
“What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, `Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’ ” `I will not,’ he answered, but later he changed his mind and went. “Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, `I will, sir,’ but he did not go. “Which of the two did what his father wanted?” “The first,” they answered.
How often do we make excuses as to why we cannot do what God is asking of us?
There is only one issue here, and it’s not can you or can’t you, but will you or won’t you.
It’s a simple question of obedience.
Maybe you’ve said NO in the past, just like the one son that we’ve read about; If so, change your mind, and say YES!
There are people’s lives right now that can only be reached by your YES.
They are depending on you.
If you will, you can.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
