It’s the time of the year when people are jetting off on their holidays and nine times out of 10 if you go away, you come back with your batteries recharged. On this, the first day of a new month, it’s a great opportunity to hit refresh.
So today, I’m giving you three steps to hit reset a little bit:
- Count your blessings
Being grateful is one of the simplest ways to shift your perspective and as these verses show us, counting your blessings only seems to create more! It can be hard, in your circumstances to maintain gratitude. Every day, it’s a choice but when you do, things start to change.
2. Surround yourself with the right people
Proverbs 13:20 Walk with the wise and become wise,
for a companion of fools suffers harm.
Assess the season of your life. When Jesus was starting His ministry, it had to choose the right people for His team. Who is on your team? Whose life are you adding to? Pray for the right people in your life; God knows who and what you need but also pray that you’re the right person. Who does He want you to come alongside and encourage?
3. Get by yourself
Luke 5:16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
Loneliness often has negative connotations attached to it but in order to receive, sometimes it’s better to be alone. If God needed to get your attention today, could He whisper in your ear, or would He have to shout your name in a crowd? Of course we carry Him everywhere but there’s something special about the stillness of sitting with God, rather than rushing around.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
