What’s your prayer-life like? Maybe a heavy question for a Tuesday but an important one, nonetheless. I’m only asking because I made an observation about how some of my prayers go.
When I pray, I split things into categories; whether your prayer list is inside your head, in your phone or on paper, I wonder if it’s anything like mine.
I tend to come to God with what’s on my mind but then I kind of give God pointers on how He could do it. As if God needs my help! I’ve noticed that this is the point where I start to get frustrated – I’ve been looking for signs of something that I was never told would happen.
The times where I’ve felt discouraged are when I’ve prayed, then gone back to check on how it’s going. If you constantly open the oven door, when you’re baking, the cake will collapse. Leave it be. The same way you trust that recipe is the same way you can trust your prayers in God’s hands.
You may have seen someone else receive an answer to the prayer you’ve been praying. Just because it’s happened in one way for someone else, it doesn’t mean that God won’t make another way for you. He is limitless. Use other people’s story as an encouragement, not the blueprint.
Ephesians 3:20 (NLT) Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
