On September 10th, 2019, at Apple’s keynote event, they announced the upgraded systems of Apple products. Within just 10 minutes of the event kicking off, Apple had over 500,000 viewers, and at the live stream’s peak, when new iPhones were being shown off, Apple reached 1.875 million viewers. The opening quote of the presentation: ‘Give people tools, and they will do wonderful things’.
This quote was one of Steve Jobs’ core beliefs – that ‘technology is nothing. What’s important is that you have faith in people, that they are basically good and smart’.
A tool is just a tool. It is the application of the tool, by the tool user, that brings about the wonderful result. The real wonder of the tool is in us and our ability to use it.
There are spiritual tools gifted to us by God. And yes there are tools for everything we could possibly face. There are tools to fix relational problems, tools for parenting, tools for healing, tools for peace, tools for money management, and tools for breakthrough and success in every area of life.
God doesn’t ask us to do something, without equipping us with the specific tool to get the job done. But God needs someone to use the tool. The tool itself doesn’t get the job done, it is the person behind the tool. It is YOU applying the tool.
When God asked Moses to lead the Israelites across the Red Sea, He gave him the tools to do the job, the knowledge needed to do the job, and the ability to do the job. God didn’t just lead Moses to the Red Sea and tell him, “Okay Moses, here’s the Red Sea. I want you to cross it but it’s totally up to you to figure out how.”
Apply God’s word, and apply his wisdom to your life. Apply the tools and with them we will do wonderful things!
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
