I love a gadget. I think that most of us do. The majority of us probably have a ‘smart assistant’ in our home or office now. Why get up to switch my lights on, when Alexa can do it for me?
I know people who rely completely on their digital calendar. If you ask where they’re meant to be at a particular time, they don’t know unless their phone tells them.
There are things that have been invented that make our lives easier. They save us precious time.
However, there are some things that there just aren’t shortcuts for. Sometimes, the long way is the only way. Take the farmer for example. They sow…and then they wait. That’s it. Sure, there are tools and machinery that make harvest time easier but nothing but time will make those crops grow.
In Ecclesiastes 3, we learn that there is ‘a time for everything’. Maybe you’re in a situation right now that you wish you could fast track your way out of.
Let me encourage you with Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
James 1:2-5 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
Everything that God has for you is worth waiting for. There are things that He wants to build into your character that won’t come overnight. Be encouraged today; persevere, so that you will lack nothing.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
