I heard someone say recently, ‘people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.’
I’m sure you know this to be true. If you’ve ever had someone correct you, or even encourage you, it is always received better when you know the person’s motive to be pure.
This Christmas, at every opportunity, show people how much you care. Maybe you can’t do so through a gift, but we all have words. Use what you do have to communicate your care for the people in your world.
One of the lessons that my Dad has taught me is that people don’t remember so much what you say to them as much as they remember how you make them feel.
I don’t want to see others as a means to offload everything happening in my life, but rather I want to be the one extending a listening ear, giving people the time of day, letting them know that they matter.
And when the time comes for a difficult conversation with a loved one, or a moment for me to share from the knowledge or experience I may have, people are fully aware, this comes from someone who cares.
Do people know how much you care? Do they feel better after spending time with you?
This holiday season, don’t show people how much you know, show them how much you care!
I pray this Christmas is your best one yet.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
