Fresh Hope – 12th March 2020

To set a precedent, is to set to a new standard. It is to put forth something that has never been put forth before.

You as a human being alive and breathing today are called to set a precedent on this planet. There is no one else on earth like you right now. There is no one else on earth that can do what you can do.

Let’s start at the most basic level – your DNA. No one else in the world, even family, will have the same combination of chromosomes as you. No one on earth has or ever will have the same fingerprint as you. The shape of your ear is totally unique to you. Out of 7.53 billion people on the planet, the pattern of your iris is unique to you, as is your tongue and your walk!

Now let’s look at your personality. No one else has had the exact same experiences that you have had. No one else therefore has the exact same collection of knowledge as you.

Every individual is unique in the existence of the world.

I believe our physical uniqueness is a sign and expression of our spiritual uniqueness and significance. Just as we have a unique fingerprint, we are called to leave a spiritual fingerprint on this world, that only we can offer.

I’m not sure why then we watch and copy others so closely. I’m not sure why we imitate the behaviour of those around us. I’m not sure why we are copying the ideas, strategies and the creativity of what has already been done. Surely, in ourselves we have something to bring that only we can bring? Surely, if we are going to set a precedent that will leave a legacy, then we need to be fully ourselves?!

Coupled with this, let me also mention that you have the Holy Spirit in you. The Holy Spirit is essentially the mind and heart of God. He is operating in you 24/7, giving you wisdom, inspiration, solving problems, and guiding you into success! Can you see how powerful you are as a unique individual, carrying something that only you can bring to the table, and then injected with the power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit? Your full expression is limited only by your mind.

We should be confident in our individuality. We should be confident in our uniqueness. We should be confident in our ideas. We do not need to imitate, we only need to emanate!

There is a quote, ‘the glory of God, is man fully alive’. In other words, God is most glorified in you when you are most yourself. You operating in the fullness of your unique personality, gifting, passion, and calling, is you fully alive and God fully glorified! Imitation dilutes the gift that you are.
