In four days, a quarter of the year will have passed. I wonder how this 2020 is shaping up for you? You could be celebrating or you could be struggling, in this current season. It very much depends on your circumstances.
Last month, I received some bad news. It was completely unexpected. You could say I was momentarily blindsided by the news affecting a loved one. Of all the things anticipated for 2020, this had not been on my radar.
One morning I woke up with a real heaviness in my heart. I couldn’t remember the last time I had felt like this and can only describe a pain that gripped me like ‘grief’. As I sat in my usual spot praying that morning I simply said ‘Lord, I feel so sad…’
As I prayed, I was reminded of Psalm 42:11‘Why my soul are you downcast – why so disturbed within me?’
Reading on, I found treasure and light for my soul – ‘Put your Hope in God’
I had read those words so many times before but right there, that morning, those words flooded my heart and lifted the heaviness that I had been carrying.
I had a decision to make there and then, just as the word instructed me to. At that point I didn’t understand the situation and I still had no answers for the future, other than one; to shift my eyes from the problem and to fix my eyes onto Jesus – He could and would fill my heart with hope.
Today, if your heart is weighed down with exhaustion, worries, the problems of this season, I urge you to do one thing. Change your position, shift your gaze and choose today to put your hope in Jesus. You can move from a place of being downcast and hopeless, to a place of being hope- filled.
Hope is Here. Hope is found in Jesus.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
