Fresh Hope – 6th July 2020

“I am your constant companion, your greatest helper or your heaviest burden.

I will push you onwards or drag you down to failure, I am completely at your command. Half of the things you do, you may as well turn over to me and I will do them quickly and correctly. I am easily managed. You must be firm with me. Show me exactly how you want something done, and after a few lessons, I will do it automatically. I am the servant of all great people, but alas, of all failures as well. Those who are great, I have made great. Those who are failures, I have made failures. I am not a machine, though I work with the precision of a machine, plus the intelligence of a person. You may run me for profit, or run me for ruin – it makes no difference to me. Take me, train me, be firm with me and I will place the world at your feet. Be easy with me and I will destroy you. Who am I?”

You may have guessed it… it’s a habit.

There are good and there are bad. But actually it’s habits that will determine your future.

Cleaning your teeth and taking a shower are good daily ones, but so is reading God’s word, praying, worshipping and praising, being generous, encouraging someone, helping someone, declaring positive things over your life, exercising regularly, eating healthily and having a positive outlook on life, seeing the best in everyone and working hard. The list, my friend, is endless.

Ask yourself on this Monday: what are yours? Are they leading you to success or failure? Blessing and prosperity or lack? Health and strength or weakness? How are your habits affecting your family?
Show me your habits and I’m sure I can determine your future.

Pastor Mark’s current Sunday series “What Happens When You… ? “is encouraging and inspiring us. Don’t let your day just go along ‘as the wind blows you’. Be intentional in everything you do. Make some great habits. Keep doing the right thing for long enough and it will become a natural habit and part of your life – your life to success and significance.
