Imagine for a moment that I’m holding a £10 note. As it stands, that note is worth what it reads on the front and back… ten pounds.
Let’s say I left that note in my jacket pocket, hung up in my wardrobe and a few weeks went by and I presumed I’d lost it. How much is that note now worth? Still ten pounds.
What if I took that same £10 note and dropped it on the floor? It would still be worth ten pounds. How about if while it was on the floor, someone rode by on their bike and went over it? That note would still be worth ten pounds. What if… you get the idea.
What I’m wanting to communicate is that despite all that the £10 note went through, it didn’t lose any of its value – it was still as valuable as the day it was made.
Today, like that ten pounds, you may have felt lost, you may have felt abandoned, even trodden on by life, but I want you to know that in spite of all of that, you have not lost your value.
How can I say that? Because your value is not determined by what life throws at you or by what people say about you, your value is found in the God who created you.
And His opinion about you has not changed. When God sent His one and only Son, Jesus to die on the cross for you, as a way of demonstrating how valuable you are to Him, He knew everything that you’d go through. He knew the mistakes that you’d make and the hurt that you’d feel, and still, He poured out His love for you.
I want you to know today that your value is not founded upon changing circumstances or opinions, but it is built upon an unchanging God.
So if you were valuable when you were made, you can rest assured that you’re still as valuable today.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
