There are very few women who don’t know for a whole nine months that they’re having a baby, only to find themselves with one as a total surprise!
As a Mom of three, I cannot fathom how someone wouldn’t know. To me, you will know.
Having a baby requires preparation. You never used to say a woman was ‘pregnant’, you instead referred to her as ‘expecting’. Yes, that’s correct… she is expecting something.
Something that is going to change her life forever. If you are expecting something, then you’d better get ready for it. You’d be foolish and very unprepared to bring that baby home from hospital with no baby bed, clothes or the thousands of other things that seem necessary.
A woman who is ‘expecting’ a child, loves the preparation. Especially if it’s your first, it’s all very exciting.
I’m going to challenge you and myself today about what are you expecting? (Some of us right now are struggling to expect anything. We have to shake ourselves and get back into expectant mode). Because whatever it is, you’d better start preparing for it. Preparation can be exciting, but it can also be costly and time-consuming.
If you’re getting ready for something big in your life, what are you doing to prepare for it? If you’re expecting a nice dinner, you will have to prepare. If you’re wanting nice home decor, you will have had to prepare.
Why is it, that when it comes to the things of God, we’re not very good at preparing? If as a farmer you’re expecting a harvest, then you will have prepared the ground with seed.
If you’re expecting God to meet your need, then I would have expected you to have sown your seed.
If you’re expecting God to use you in some mighty way, then what are you doing to prepare for that?
Today make sure you are EXPECTING something, but don’t just EXPECT without the PREPARATION.
Because if you’re not ready, maybe God won’t give it to you. Maybe just maybe, He’ll give it to the person who not only expected, but prepared also.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
