Despite popular opinion being jealous of other people is not “normal” or “okay”. It actually goes against your design in God.

The Bible has strong words of warning regarding the destructive power of jealousy in your life. It says things like, ‘where you have envy, there you will find disorder and every evil practice’ (James 3:14-16) and ‘envy rots the bones’ of our lives, pushing away our peace’ (Proverbs 14:30).

Still think jealousy is no biggy? In Genesis 4 it drove Cain to resentment and then murder. In Genesis 37, it caused Joseph’s brothers to beat him up and boot him out the family. In 1 Samuel 18, Saul’s jealousy literally drove him mentally crazy! In Mark 15 we see jealousy put Jesus on the cross. Isaiah 14, Satan himself moved from heavenly worshipper to hell because he envied God!

Don’t normalise jealousy. It is ugly and does not end well.

Unless you possess the pinnacle of everything on the planet, there will ALWAYS be someone ‘better than you’, with something you don’t have – a better body, a better face, better clothes, a better spouse, better kids, better holidays, better giftings, better friends… I could go on. Dwelling on what you don’t have and pining after what someone else has is as fruitful as chasing after the wind – relentless and never ending.

The question is: is Jesus truly enough for our heart’s desire?

Move from constant comparison to gratitude for WHAT YOU DO HAVE. Move from competition to celebrating the goodness of God evidenced in the lives of others!

Discover the peace of Jesus being your everything, of being thankful, of being satisfied and content in ALL circumstances and celebrate the wins of others!
