The gifts and talents that God has given you are not the same as those that He has given to anyone else.
Why do you keep being frustrated by looking at what God has done in someone else’s life, and then belittle what he has done in yours?
If you compare yourself with others, you’ll never be at peace; somebody out there will always be great at something you’d just love to be good at, but maybe you weren’t supposed to be good at that, instead, you were supposed to be great at something else.
One sentence, just one, was spoken to me many years ago, after trying to succeed at being someone that I wasn’t created to be. As I looked around at those that were doing amazing things with their lives, subconsciously I’d try to emulate what they were doing.
I’d listen to those that preached amazingly and tried to be like them, but all was in vain.
That one sentence went like this…’why don’t you just be you, because we like you just the way you are.’
In a moment, I realised that I was putting all my effort into being who I wasn’t, rather than using my energies to make a difference through who I was.
I was almost 40 years of age when that happened, but you don’t have to wait a day longer than necessary to have that revelation – be who you were created to be.
By all means change and be inspired by others, but don’t try to be a copy—you’re an original.
When you live happy in your own skin, the pressure to prove and to be approved lifts off you, and you become free to be you.
Remember: there will always be someone that can do what you do better than you, but there’s only one person that can do it just like you – YOU!
Psalm 139:14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
