Fresh Hope – 15th December 2020

I’m pretty sure that you’ve had to face some problems over the last months that you never bargained for when the year began. In fact we’ve all had to navigate 2020 like no other year that we’ve been alive.

Think about how many unique problems that the population of the world faces right now, and then think about how many different answers to those problems there must be out there. One thing is for certain, there is no shortage of problems, but there always seems to be a shortage of answers.
It’s almost guaranteed that you will be scratching your head today about something and asking what on earth is the solution to my problem. The great news is that there is no such thing to God as a shortage of answers—you just need to know who to ask and where to look.

Believe it or not, God has the answer to your most difficult and detailed problem right now. Many people believe that knowledge solves everything, and though that is good, you can be highly intelligent, know loads of stuff about loads of things and still be clueless. Higher than knowledge is wisdom. Wisdom can use the knowledge that you have and instruct you as to how to apply it in any and every situation.
But you may ask yourself, what if I don’t have any knowledge to apply?

Once again…great news! There is even a much higher way than wisdom itself, and that is the wisdom of God. The wisdom of God, does not rest on any knowledge that you may or may not possess, but rests solely on what God already knows about every detail on the planet, let alone in your small world right now.

Listen to how James put it in the New Testament:
James 1:5-8 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

Stuck for an answer today? Simply ask God to show you the best solution. You’ll be amazed at how much He knows. In fact He is the sum total of all wisdom and knowledge.

Think of this story for a moment…
A lady called out an engineer to come and repair her washing machine. He arrived at her home and within five minutes had finished the job and swiftly presented her a bill for £100. She argued with him about the cost and asked how he could charge such an extortion price, knowing that he had only taken the front off the machine and hit something inside with his hammer. He replied,”I’m charging you only £5 for hitting the part with my hammer, but £95 for knowing where to hit.”
His knowledge was vast about every part of the washing machine, which enabled him to wisely and accurately give an instant solution. Anyone else could have spent days on the very same job, and still not have solved the problem.

God has the answer right now to every single problem that you will ever face. Why not ask him to download His wisdom to you today? He’ll be only too happy to help you for free.

Take time to read the fascinating few verses below—they have been a massive blessing to myself over the years:
Isaiah 28:23-29 Listen and hear my voice; pay attention and hear what I say. When a farmer ploughs for planting, does he plough continually? Does he keep on breaking up and working the soil? When he has levelled the surface, does he not sow caraway and scatter cummin? Does he not plant wheat in its place, barley in its plot, and spelt in its field? His God instructs him and teaches him the right way. Caraway is not threshed with a sledge, nor is the cartwheel rolled over cummin; caraway is beaten out with a rod, and cummin with a stick. Grain must be ground to make bread; so one does not go on threshing it for ever. The wheels of a threshing-cart may be rolled over it, but one does not use horses to grind grain. All this also comes from the Lord Almighty, whose plan is wonderful, whose wisdom is magnificent.
