I’m sure many of you are very familiar with the famous Christmas song, ‘Joy to the World’. Often we sing these Christmas songs, paying little attention to the words we are actually singing!
‘Joy to the world the Lord is come
Let Earth receive her King
Let every heart prepare Him room…’
Joy by God’s definition is not a sweet, little, polite cheer. Joy is radical and powerful. Joy can be defined as a deep-down sense of well-being that abides in the heart of the person who knows all is well between himself and the Lord. Joy is not conservative. Joy causes us to SHOUT!
Psalm 91:4 says, ‘Shout for JOY to the Lord, all the earth…’
From 100 references to joy, the first time it is mentioned in the New Testament it is coupled with the birth of Jesus:
‘When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy’ (Matthew 2:10).
Our level of joy has nothing to do with the circumstances surrounding 2020 – our disappointments, our heartache. Our joy has everything to do with our King.
Let the earth REJOICE for our king is here!
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
