As you continue to fast and pray today, remember, some prayers are like space rockets and some are like tortoises.
A space rocket prayer is answered almost immediately after being prayed. You light the touch-paper and within seconds it’s reached its target.
If you’ve ever had one of those, you could be forgiven for thinking that’s the norm and therefore you will always expect immediate answers to prayer.
It’s not the norm!
In much the same way, if you’re a parent, you will not always give your child everything they want as soon as they ask.
So it is with God; He will often allow us to wait, in order to help us grow in the process.
The waiting prayer is what I like to call the ‘tortoise’ prayer.
It’s painfully slow, but eventually gets across the finishing line.
With this kind of prayer you will often be tempted to give up, but think of it like this; when you stop praying, the tortoise stops moving.
How many of us have failed to see our prayers come across the finishing line because we gave up thinking it would never happen?
As you continue to pray specifically today, remember, the tortoise of your answered prayer is closer to the finish line than you think.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ‘Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.’
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
