I’m all about that base…
I know what you’re thinking, ‘he’s got the wrong word’. It’s not that kind of base!
Well, today I’d like to take a moment to think about this type of base. You can carry on singing the song though,if you want to…
A strong base or foundation is essential to a strong construction – whether it’s a house, a sky-scraper or a lovely handcrafted sculpture. Without it, these things, no matter how lovely or how big, will come to ruin.
A similar thought can be applied to us, the relationships we build, our families and our lives in general.
Without a strong base, life can easily fall apart or even worse, crash into a pile of ruins.
So what make for a good base?
Well in foundations, there must be the correct mix of materials – stone, sand, cement, metal etc – each playing its part.
Have you got a good mix of things for your base in life?
For some, it’s family. For others, friends.
Then for some it’s money, work and a career.
All these are great, but let me draw your attention to what I would call the vital ingredient.
In the bible, Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus talks about how a man who built his house upon a rock is like those who hear the words of Jesus and put them into practise. No matter what conditions hit those house, it stayed standing and strong. Where as the foolish man who built his house on sand, is like those who choose to ignore His words, and you can guess what happened to that house.
For a successful life, make sure your base is of utmost importance to you, not forgetting the vital ingredient: the words of Jesus, that help to shape your life.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
