Have you ever found yourself worrying over something, only to find that the thing you were worrying about never came to be?
Recently, I allowed a situation to take hold of me, and for an hour or so, my mind was occupied with it. As time went on, and as the situation came to a conclusion, I realised that there was really nothing to worry about at all. My worry was worthless, but not only that, it was wasteful.
There have been many times for me, and I’m sure for you also, like this, where I have found myself wasting precious moments of my life, concerned over matters that weren’t even worth my time.
The Bible talks about this kind of living, in Luke 12:25…
‘Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?’
You see, worrying is a form of subtraction. It never adds to your life, it only ever takes away from it. Think about what could be achieved if you replaced worry with faith. How different would life look, if you replaced anxious thinking with trust?
A famous preacher once said, ‘Worry is a down payment on a problem you may never have.’
Life will always have its challenges. What happens around you may be out of your control, but what happens in you is under your control. Choose today to live a life free of worry, free of concern, free of anxiety, knowing that God’s got you.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
