I read an article in the news recently about a man who had sued his newly wed wife after waking up next to her the morning after their wedding thinking she was an intruder…
She had been wearing so much makeup for her big day, that when she washed it all off the next morning, she looked like a totally different person.
Thinking it was a burglar wanting to steal from their apartment, the man jumped out of bed, about to call the police until he realised that it was actually the woman he had committed his life to. This lady had become unrecognisable overnight.
I was reading the book of Colossians a few days ago and a particular verse stood out to me. It’s found in chapter 3 and it says, “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”
What this verse is saying is that when you accept Jesus into your life, God no longer sees you for who you are, but for who Jesus is – you have become hidden in Christ. You’ve taken on a whole new identity. No longer are you recognisable to those who once knew you, you are now a new creation!
If you want to experience this new way of living today, then all you have to do is simply ask Jesus into your heart, and in a moment, the old has gone, and the new has come… Welcome to this new life of living with God.
It seems too good to be true, but the best thing about the Gospel (the Good News) is that it really is that good, and it is absolute truth, that can transform our lives if we allow it to.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
