Money is one of the biggest stress points in anyone’s life.
If you are married, then you will particularly know only too well how true that is.
If you have children then you will be feeling the pinch even more.
The truth is, there just doesn’t seem enough to go around. Surprisingly, a pay rise brings short term relief, as you quickly spend that surplus cash and do what everyone else does, and that is, live according to or beyond your means.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if your money never ran out?
We have all dreamed of what we could do if money was no object. Unselfishly, we could help so many people and do so many great things, let only buy that one thing that you’ve always wanted.
In reality, most of us may never come into a place of having so much money that we don’t know what to do with it. However, I want to share with you the secret of having a never-ending supply.
Please understand that this is not the same as accumulating wealth or doing the lottery in the hope of becoming an overnight millionaire; what I’m about to share not only applies to all, no matter how rich or poor, but it actually works for all too.
This secret is found in the Bible and comes from the lips of Jesus…
Luke 12:33-34 – ‘Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’
How would you like a purse or wallet that never wears out and one that cannot be fully emptied or stolen from? This is a purse of abundant supply.
As you read more of this chapter below, you will see three principles of provision.
1) Don’t worry about your life.
2) Be generous with the money that you do have.
3) Put God first, in everything you do.
As I write, a retired lady that I know told me of how she feared that she would never have enough money to go around ,as she was now just on a pension.
Her story is unique, yet it’s the same story as everyone else’s that makes a choice to apply the above 3 principles. She tells me that on paper she cannot afford to give part of her income to God and that she is supposed to be struggling and worrying about how to make ends meet. Yet, her story is of abundant supply, in that not only does she have enough, she has more than enough, in fact more surplus than she’s ever known before, even when employed.
She knows the secret.
She lives by the secret.
Luke 12:22-34 Then Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: they do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? ‘Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you – you of little faith! And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. ‘Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
