Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
This was a quote from Einstein – we can trust it to be true, as apparently he was clever.
As life goes on, we all surely hope to progress, grow and change – to be in a different place than we currently are. A bigger family, more finances, promotion at work, new house, better holidays etc…
But what Einstein is saying here is, if our actions are always the same, we will only ever get the same results.
We can apply this to our spiritual lives.
Do you seem to struggle with the same habits, sins, doubts, fears and disappointments, repeatedly?
One thing I’ve learned, is to change, always! Life cannot be static – you’re either increasing or decreasing, moving forward or backwards.
Einstein also said ‘life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.’
This is a key to a life of progress. Aim to live a life of motion, moving forward, challenging your thinking and actions!
We have to examine our routines and what we do all the time. If you are dissatisfied with the results your life and actions have brought so far, then guess what? You’re going to have to change what you do.
A well-known saying is ‘a leopard can’t change its spots’, but with faith anything is possible. We sometimes may feel ‘but this is just me’ or ‘l’ve always done this, and struggled with that!’ Challenge that thinking today and say ‘no!’
You may have struggled with a certain sin all of your life and you’ve accepted that that’s it now, until you pass into the next life. You can change today!
There is always time to change what you’re doing to get different results. Stop today and ask yourself, ‘what areas do I want to be different, in my life? What and how am I going to have to change?’
Now go and do it.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
